The Clone Wars was first depicted in Attack of the Clones, the release of which brought an end to Lucas's embargo on licensed material set during the era. #Star wars clone wars clone fighter seriesThe absence of the "seven battles on seven planets" in part led to Lucas's decision to launch the CGI-animated Clone Wars television series Lucas said the cartoon could "do better" at depicting the conflict. Lucas then radically re-organized the plot instead of opening the film with various Clone Wars battles, Lucas decided instead to focus on Anakin Skywalker. Lucas proposed to concept artists that Revenge of the Sith would open with a montage of seven battles on seven planets. The clone forces shown at the conclusion of Attack of the Clones comprised the largest digital army created for a film at that point. How does a good person go bad, and how does a democracy become a dictatorship? What kinds of things push people and institutions in this direction? That's the issue I've been exploring: how did the Republic turn into the Empire?. Ultimately, the general population goes along with the idea. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it's Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler. In 2002, Lucas said:Īll democracies turn into dictatorships-but not by coup. Lucas has also said that one of the primary influences for the political backdrop behind the Clone Wars, and all of Star Wars, was the Vietnam War and Watergate scandal era, when leaders embraced corruption for what they thought was the best course of action. Lucas has noted that Palpatine's rise to power is similar to that of Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany as Chancellor of Germany, the latter was granted " emergency powers", as is Palpatine. Lucas was more guarded about the details of the Clone Wars than any other element of Star Wars, even making them off-limits to licensed products and books. However, these concepts were not included in the final version of the film. Boba Fett was also initially considered as being from a group of shocktroopers nearly wiped out by Jedi during the Clone Wars. Leigh Brackett's first draft of the film initially developed Lando Calrissian as a clone from a planet of clones involved in the Clone Wars mentioned in A New Hope and were nearly made extinct by the war. In drafting The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Lucas considered introducing a clone character who had been involved with the Clone Wars. The wars were mentioned twice briefly in the final version of the film, referring to Obi-Wan Kenobi as a general who served Leia Organa's (then-unnamed) father Bail Organa during the conflict. The first reference to the Clone Wars is in Star Wars creator George Lucas' third draft of the first film, which mentions the grizzled cyborg General Kenobi's "diary of the Clone Wars". The political and military events of the Clone Wars draw inspiration from real-world conflicts and historical events, such as transition of the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire and the First and Second World Wars, as well as contemporary events such as the War on Terror and the Bush administration during the early 21st century. Lucas used the Clone Wars narrative to answer questions about the original trilogy, such as how the Empire originated and how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. This would allow him to gain total power and ultimately convert the democratic Galactic Republic into the autocratic Galactic Empire, which was controlled through means of a military–industrial complex and featured in the original trilogy. Palpatine secretly seeks to wipe out all Jedi upon giving the command for Order 66 at the end of the war. The conflict was manufactured as a scheme for the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, secretly the evil Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who was secretly manipulating the war upon the first battle of Geonosis. The Republic uses an army of clone troopers, the namesake of the conflict, led by the Jedi Order against the Separatist battle droid army. Within the Star Wars narrative, the Clone Wars involve a three-year war fought to prevent thousands of planetary systems from seceding from the Galactic Republic and forming the " Confederacy of Independent Systems", often referred to as "the Separatists". They have featured in numerous Star Wars books and games. The Clone Wars are also the setting for three eponymous projects: a 2D animated series (2003–2005), a CGI film (2008), and a 3D CGI series (2008–2014, 2020). Though mentioned briefly in the first Star Wars film ( A New Hope, 1977), the war itself was not depicted until Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005). The Clone Wars are a series of fictional conflicts in the Star Wars franchise by George Lucas. Clone troopers are the primary Galactic Republic foot-soldiers during the Clone Wars. And very often it seemed to me that the original scoring of Cline's songs had been replaced with new arrangements. But the film does something odd with them: the bulk of the story is set during the 1950s, but there is not a 1950s-era Cline vocal to be heard in the entire film, everything is taken from her glory years at MCA between 19. Even if you've heard all these songs a thousand times, they're still worth hearing again. The supporting cast is also quite good, with Ann Wedgeworth a standout in the role of Cline's mother Hilda. Jessica Lang looks no more like Patsy Cline than I do, and her lip-scynchs to Cline's work is rather hit-and-miss, but she gives a truly memorable performance Ed Harris equals her in the role of husband Charlie, and together they create a synergy that has tremendous power. But the cast carries it off in fine style. The direction and cinematography are no great shakes either, and ultimately SWEET DREAMS looks very much like a made-for-television movie. The weak point of the film is the script, which plays largely to a "domestic drama" aspect and tends to smooth out the characters in a "santized for your protection" sort of way. So instead of truth, or even a good approximation of it, SWEET DREAMS gives us the legend, the folk tale of the rough-and-tumble girl with the big, emotional voice who came from no where, married an abusive husband, and leaped into stardom that was cut short by an untimely death. SWEET DREAMS FULLEven the celebrated "Sweet Dreams" never made it to the top spot on any music chart, and it was not until well after her death that she received full recognition for her remarkable work. What isn't opinion is the way the film treats her career: it didn't happen like that, and while the film presents her as a great star at the time of her death in truth she had released only a handful of widely distributed records by 1963-and while some of them were big hits, they weren't quite as big as you might think. But it does seem likely that the script softened Cline's harder edges and over-emphasized the stormy nature of her marriage in order to cast her in the role of victim. To a certain extent, the validity of these complaints about the film are a matter of opinion. She and her life were extremely well recalled by family, friends, and co-workers, and one and all attacked the film as an extremely inaccurate portrait of her, her husband Charlie, and her life and career. For Patsy Cline was not a figure from the remote past. Reality is generally more complicated than any motion picture can possibly convey-and such is the case with SWEET DREAMS, the 1985 bio-pic of singer Patsy Cline, which ran into a firestorm of criticism at the time of its release. However, an 8-track EP entitled The End was sold at dates on the tour. Despite earlier reports that they would enter the studio before their farewell tour, Osbourne stated that there will not be another Black Sabbath studio album and that Black Sabbath is indeed over. On 3 September 2015, it was announced that Black Sabbath would embark on their farewell tour, titled The End, from January 2016 to February 2017. The latest studio album, 13 was recorded with Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk (who coincidentally shares the same initials as Ward, and whose name would be an anagram of Ward's if not for one letter.) In May of 2012, drummer Bill Ward broke from the band, citing contractual differences, leaving the band to perform its first show in Birmingham with Ozzy's current drummer Tommy Clufetos. #Black sabbath iron man downloadIn the state of limbo the band was after Dio's death, the original line-up had confirmed its reunion, with a new album and a tour on the way, but Iommi's early stages of lymphoma had to halt all their summer tour dates as Black Sabbath except for Download Festival, with "Ozzy and Friends" performing most of the dates due to Iommi's condition. As Ozzy again drifted away from the band in the mid-2000's to focus on his solo career and semi-retirement, the other members reunited with Dio and performed under the name Heaven and Hell until Dio's death in 2010. The band saw multiple line-up changes (including a reunion of the Dio-era line-up in 1991) until the original four reunited in 1997. Dio's tenure lasted only three years, but he was generally regarded as a brilliant front-man in his own right, and his 1980 debut with the band, Heaven and Hell, is an all-time classic.įrom 1982-1984, former Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan joined the Black Sabbath for Born Again and a tour that most notably included the Deep Purple song "Smoke on the Water" as part of the encore, an unusual move for Black Sabbath. On the advice of the band's manager, Sharon Arden (who would later become Sharon Osbourne), the group recruited Ronnie James Dio, freshly departed from Heavy Mithril juggernaut Rainbow, as their new lead singer. In 1979, Ozzy Osbourne was fired from the band as his increasingly erratic behaviour rendered him generally unreliable. Their next albums, Master of Reality and Volume 4, spawned a new batch of classics, such as "Sweet Leaf," "Children of the Grave," "Into the Void," "Supernaut," and "Snowblind." It wasn't until their fifth album, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, that they finally got positive reviews from the mainstream media (although critics have reversed themselves and retroactively praised the other four albums). Their first two albums, Black Sabbath and Paranoid (both released in 1970), brought them great popularity with songs like "Black Sabbath," "War Pigs," "Paranoid," and "Iron Man." Due to their darker style, they initially received no radio play, and Vertigo Records had to bribe radio stations to play "Iron Man," which scraped the US charts. For the Dio era, they took up a more Power Metal and traditional metal stance with some instances of Speed Metal and vestiges of blues metal. For the classic era, they dabbled extensively with Blues Rock, Jazz Rock, Psychedelic Rock, early Doom Metal, and, of course, Heavy Metal. Their two most celebrated eras, the "classic" years (1969-1975) and the early Dio years (1980-1982), are marked by massive changes to the sound. Their sound has naturally changed over the decades. #Black sabbath iron man movieTheir name did actually come from a 1963 horror movie named Black Sabbath, starring Boris Karloff. Apocryphally, this was the result of one of the band members seeing a queue for a horror film at a cinema and commenting on how people pay to be scared. They started out in 1968 as a blues band called Earth until changing their style to a darker tone. Black Sabbath was a band from Birmingham, England who are widely considered to be the first Heavy Metal band ( Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Blue Cheer are also cited, but Sabbath is the most common) formed by singer John "Ozzy" Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi (who briefly joined Jethro Tull in 1968), bassist Terrence "Geezer" Butler, and drummer Bill Ward.

Pope Urban II Preaching the First Crusade in the Square of Clermont by Francesco Hayez, 1835 Pope Urban II pronounced that any knight fighting for the First Crusade would be exonerated from the sin of killing. In Geoffroi de Charny’s “ Book of Chivalry “, he explains the importance of Christian faith in all aspects of a Knight’s life. In addition to the earthly warrior ethos, spirituality in the form of Christianity was firmly entrenched in the Chivalric Code of knights. By the Late Middle Ages, the Code of Chivalry had become a moral system, combining warrior ethos, knightly piety, and courtly manners. Our story begins in the deep, dark Teutonic forests of medieval Europe, where the warrior culture of Germanic horsemen combined with Roman traditions were molded by the Church into a civilized code of conduct based on bravery, disciplined training, and service to others. One of the biggest is that it may actually be easier for your dog to understand hand signals than your vocal instructions. However, it would be best to consider going a step further and adding in hand signal when training your dog for various reasons. Most people teach their dog verbal commands and stop there. Unfortunately, unless you are lucky enough to get one already trained, it takes a lot of time and patience to teach a dog properly. Here we’ve used more universal training signals.FYI: we may earn a commission for qualified purchases made through the links in our articles ( learn more).Ī well-trained dog is a pleasure to have. You may even discover you have been using hand signals without giving it much thought. You can choose any hand signal you like for your dog. If your dog is having trouble making the connection between the hand signal and the command, hold the treat in your hand and use it as a lure to get your dog into position. Once the dog reliably sits with only the hand signal, teach another command and then start building on their hand signal vocabulary. Practice the hand signal and command until the dog sits using only the hand signal. For example, use your hand signal for sit, immediately say “sit,” and when the dog sits, offer the reward. When the dog follows the command, reward the correct behavior. Once your dog makes the connection that you are offering a signal rather than verbal command, they will catch on quickly and you can continue to add as many commands as the dog can handle.Īny easy method to begin training starts with choosing one command and doing the hand signal, immediately followed with the corresponding command. Start by offering a click (if your dog is clicker trained), treat, and praise when they follow the hand signal. To begin teaching your dog hand signals, stick with simple commands and clear hand gestures. Teaching your dog to read hand signals is very rewarding and also helpful should your dog lose hearing in their golden years. Since dogs are so adept at reading body language, they can easily be taught to read hand signals. You’ve probably seen this skill in action if you’ve ever glanced at your dogs leash or treats and suddenly your dog wants to go for a walk or eat a snack. The study concluded that dogs gathered social information and used visual skills to locate food hidden in containers when humans pointed, gazed at, or tapped on the containers. In a study called the Domestication of Social Cognition in Dogs, researchers found that “dogs are more skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals indicating the location of hidden food.” Domesticated puppies were even found better at reading body language than wolves raised by humans. They communicate with you and each other through use of postures, tail carriage, ear and eye position, facial expressions, and movement. They are accustomed to using body language to communicate what is going on with them, too. Dogs can read your body language, eye movements, posture, as well as hand signals.ĭogs’ understanding of interpreting body language is profound. Those times when your dog seemingly reads your mind, most likely your dog is reading unspoken physical cues. Dogs are excellent at reading body language.
